Now that's a fire!

The boys decided to burn some junk lumber in the fire pit yesterday afternoon. We normally only burn logs that aren't suitable for the woodstove (too long, unstackable due to shape, too small, been down too long and starting to rot...), and the fires are pretty tame. This time they made the classic "Teepee" shape out of boards and lit it off. Wow! That was one big fire. Da Pooch (the outside cat) didn't know what to do. Normally, when we build a fire, we sit around it in the camp chairs and Da Pooch has plenty of laps and scratching hands to choose from. This was not a sitting type of fire, so he just kept his distance and yelled at us.

First, we took this old, rotten bench that was on the deck when we moved in, took a maul and an axe, and chopped it to bits. Then we threw it in the fire.

Later in the day, Mason's friend Tom Graber came over. We then destroyed an old weather-instrument holder (or whatever it was) and put that in.

Finally, we took the other old rotten bench and chopped it up, then threw that in.

Later, when I was trying to throw a stick into this hole in the fire, a gust of wind came by and the fire leaned towards me. It singed some of my arm hair off.

That looks like a lot of fun. Be careful Morgan. Don't light your whole head on fire! Did ya'll roast any weenies or marshmallows?
Did ya'll think about pitching a tent and camping out? This is your two months of summer huh? It's gonna start snowing soon! :)

SNOW????? That's a curse word, as far as I'm concerned. I hate the damn snow.

We're leaving to go camping on July 2nd. I can't wait!!!!!
