Gardening Stuff

The growing season here is really short. We grow some stuff in a raised bed and some stuff in containers.
Here are Kaye's green onions. And before you comment on it, we are currently pulling up all of those pavers and putting new landscaping cloth underneath. The weeds just finally got to be too much to keep up with.
Da Pooch just had to follow me around while I took the pictures. "How about something to eat? Please???"
Here is our lone tomato plant.
Five pepper plants here....
Three more here. There is another one that I didn't shoot. That thing off to the right is a failed attempt at an Amaryliss (?). I blame Kaye.

Now that's a fire!

The boys decided to burn some junk lumber in the fire pit yesterday afternoon. We normally only burn logs that aren't suitable for the woodstove (too long, unstackable due to shape, too small, been down too long and starting to rot...), and the fires are pretty tame. This time they made the classic "Teepee" shape out of boards and lit it off. Wow! That was one big fire. Da Pooch (the outside cat) didn't know what to do. Normally, when we build a fire, we sit around it in the camp chairs and Da Pooch has plenty of laps and scratching hands to choose from. This was not a sitting type of fire, so he just kept his distance and yelled at us.

Sterling Nature Center

Mitchell and I went to Sterling Nature Center this afternoon. We walked down to the beach, but it was too windy, so we didn't stay down there too long. Then we walked over to the heron rookery. Mitch said it looked like a swamp.

OC's pets

Bed time

Kaye doesn't like this arrangement too much. She says that the cat bed is a little too small and hard. She also claims that I love Punjabe more than I love her, which is ridiculous. I keep telling her that it is a tie.

Diggers

The boys enlarged the backyard fire pit today. We have campfires in the evenings during the spring, summer, and fall. We went to the lake (Ontario) and got some stones for the rim. It turned out pretty good. Like they say in Norway, "Good job." Well, the english speaking people in Norway say that.

Mitchell's New Look

Mitchell got his braces on Thursday morning. He is adjusting well and is not experiencing any discomfort.

Hopefully I will be getting my braces off in the Fall.
